Collection: The Gambia Flooding
Maxar OpenData | Record flooding in The Gambia has caused widespread damage, including submerged roads and destroyed buildings. The rainfall measured 10.87 inches (276 mm) at Banjul International Airport, the heaviest recorded in more than 30 years. As of August 9, 2022, six fatalities have been reported and more than 17,200 people affected by the floods. The Gambia Red Cross said its volunteers have been working around the clock to distribute supplies and help families relocate to emergency shelters.
